Does anyone know the real life of seafarers?
I went there more than 10 years ago and would like to share my true experience.
I was in a labor market in Jinan when I saw an agency recruiting seafarers with an annual salary of 60,000 to 80,000. I just made a brief inquiry and went.
He asked us to report to the company first and wrote me a note with the address and phone number on it. There are also driving directions.
I thought to myself that after traveling alone for so many years, how could I still get lost and be deceived, so I boarded the train to Qingdao alone. The company is located at Jiaozhou Bay Terminal in Qingdao. After I arrived, I simply checked in and there came a middle-aged man riding a motorcycle who called himself the captain. He looks dark and handsome. Speaks fluent Qingdao dialect. After he arrived at the company, he briefly communicated with the company and seemed to have paid a sum of money. So the company's employees brought the captain to me and said it was this young man. The captain spoke very directly. Ask me: How old is the young man? Our work is very hard. Can he endure hardship? I gave a few simple answers, saying that I could endure hardship and make money. He said again, then come with me. So I followed him on the motorcycle. He took me to a place on the edge of the pier that looked like a police room. The people inside were wearing police uniforms. I went through some formalities. Insurance, crew certificates, things like that. He took all these things and I didn't see them. Later, when it got dark, he took me to the boat on his motorcycle. There were 5 workers on the boat. This was the first time in my life that I was on a boat. I am still full of curiosity, excitement and confusion. He came over and told me that we were about to go to sea. You may get seasick if you have never been to sea. You should go inside and sleep for a while. I will call you when we arrive. So a worker took me into the ship's warehouse, and he said, "You should rest for a while." The sleeping area was underneath the boat, which was made of wood. The sleeping area is about less than 2 square meters. You can curl up inside just enough to lie down. The surrounding area is wrapped in plastic sheets. It's a bit damp and musty inside. I lay down in this environment, took out my v3 phone and saw that there was no signal, so I listened to the downloaded mp3 songs. After listening to a few songs, my phone was almost out of battery. Later I learned that charging was not possible on board. After lying down for about 20 or so, I started to feel uncomfortable. I got seasick, so I started crawling out and vomiting all kinds of things. Do you know why you vomited? The boat kept rocking. All kinds of collisions. There were bumps on my legs and arms. Later, I couldn't bear it anymore, so I just stopped sleeping and sat on it. It was dark all around. All he could see was the roaring sea, the dark night sky, and the dilapidated fishing boat swaying with the waves at his feet. Feeling the cold wind blowing in my face, I felt all kinds of emotions. If you sit like this for a long time, go down and lie down for a while. If you feel uncomfortable lying down, go up and sit for a while. Don't know the time, don't know where. I don’t know how long it took before everyone came out. The captain said, work is done. I was still confused and didn't know what to do. Because I didn't sleep well and didn't eat. So tired, sleepy and hungry. The captain asked people to go down to the bottom of the ship and take out several baskets of small fish such as mackerel and yellow croaker under the ice. Start putting something in the shape of a black plastic bucket, and throw it into the sea as you go. In this way, we started working in a hurry. Some were responsible for moving the bait from the bottom of the ice house, some were responsible for placing the bait, some were responsible for throwing it into the sea, and some were responsible for driving the boat. There are also those responsible for ship repairs. Just enough manpower, no more, no less. After working for about 4 hours, the boat repairman prepared a meal and asked us to eat. They cannot eat them together, they have to eat them one by one. If we can't rest together, we have to work for about 20 hours before one person can rest for 1-2 hours. If you accidentally fall asleep, sorry, the direct boss of the ship will let you know what the fists as big as sandbags are used for. It will definitely wake you up. He won't beat you half to death either. After all, you still have to work. So I just slap you a few times and punch you a few times. I'll give you some sticks. I persisted like this for who knows how long. Made it to the return flight. Let me tell you a secret, the food you eat will also make you doubt your life, 40cm frozen steamed buns, caught eels, and boiled intestines inside. The steamed buns were too dry to bite after being heated, which is probably how fishermen invented the French baguette.
Many people are curious about where we go to sea.
I didn’t know until I arrived at the place that the boss said this was the South China Sea Area 151. I was working part-time and accidentally ended up in Korea.
