Was there a tower in Shangyu Hokaiji before?

There were no towers before. Shangyu Hokaiji is a Buddhist temple located in Shangyu District, Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province. Its history can be traced back to the Southern and Northern Dynasties. According to the documents of Hokaiji in Shangyu and the results of archaeological excavations, there is no tower in Hokaiji in Shangyu in history. The Hokaiji in Shangyu covers an area of about 100 mu, and is mainly composed of buildings such as the mountain gate, Mahayana Hall, Tibetan Sutra Pavilion and Zen Hall. Among them, Daxiong Hall is one of the cores of the whole temple complex. It was built in the Tang Dynasty and has been rebuilt and expanded many times. Now it is a five-story Lohan Hall-style wooden structure with a height of 28 meters, which is one of the well-preserved wooden structures in the Tang Dynasty in East China.
