According to the preliminary planning of Sichuan Province, Tianfu International Airport will become a hub airport, undertaking the main air transport business in Sichuan Province, and Shuangliu International Airport will focus on boutique routes, tourist routes and business jets.

In terms of route arrangement, Tianfu International Airport will develop more international routes, improve the transit rate, enhance the radiation capacity of international hub airports, and form a "siphon effect". Shuangliu International Airport mainly develops "point-to-point" routes without transit.

Chengdu Tianfu Airport is located in Konggang Avenue, Lujia Town, East New District, Chengdu, 50 kilometers away from downtown Chengdu, 4.5 kilometers away from jianyang city Center/KLOC-0 and 70 kilometers away from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport.

Chengdu Shuangliu Airport is located at the junction of Shuangliu District and Wuhou District in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China, about 16km northeast of downtown Chengdu. It is a 4F-class international aviation hub and one of the eight regional hub airports in China.
