Collection Resources of Shantou University Library

The library attaches great importance to the collection, development and service of Chaoshan local literature and overseas Chinese-related resources, actively promotes the digital construction of Chaoshan local literature, devotes itself to the construction of Chaoshan local literature digital library, and strives to become an influential Chaoshan literature consultation center at home and abroad. There are 17976 kinds of Chaoshan local books (1 1554 kinds), 289 kinds of Chaoshan local newspapers and periodicals, more than 26,000 originals approved by overseas Chinese, more than 3,000 folk contracts, more than 3,600 audio-visual materials of Chaozhou opera (599 bakelite records) and 65,438 Chaozhou songs. In 2003, the Chaoshan Special Collection Network of Shantou University Library was established, with the total number of visits exceeding 7.5 million. We have independently built nine databases, including the full-text database of Overseas Chinese News, the full-text database of Chao E-books, the full-text database of Chao Bao and the online full-text resource database of Chao Shan Bao. In April 2004, "Chaoshan Literature Database" won the CALIS "Tenth Five-Year Plan" characteristic database project; In 2009, the project "Research on the Network Construction and Sharing of Chaoshan Local Literature Resources" was approved by Guangdong Central Library. On 20 10, the construction project of "digitalization of book resources recognized by overseas Chinese" and the research topic of "specification and description rules of overseas Chinese metadata" were approved by the second phase of CADAL project, and the construction tasks were completed on time and successfully concluded. 20 12 "Shantou Bulao Street Multimedia Database" was approved by the Ministry of Culture.
