Singapore Immigration Conditions 2020

GIP Global Business Investor Program

The organization "Contact Singapore" initiated by Enterprise Singapore and other units is aimed at those who have rich business experience and are interested in using Singapore as a platform to expand international business. The successful entrepreneur designed the "Global Business Investor Program" to directly apply for Singapore permanent residence for applicants in one step. This method is so far the only direct way to obtain PR.

This immigration method includes two options:

A. Invest at least 2.5 million Singapore dollars in a Global Business Investor Program Fund.

B. Invest at least S$2.5 million in Singapore to establish a new business entity or expand existing business operations.

GIP’s basic evaluation criteria for applicants include:

1. Must have at least three years of business experience and submit the audited financial reports of the company they own in the past three years.

2. The turnover of the company held in the last year must reach at least S$50 million, and the average annual turnover in the last three years must also reach at least S$50 million.

3. If the company held is privately owned, the applicant must hold at least 30% of the equity. The applicant's scope of responsibilities within the company and the company's profitability will also be considered for approval.

Additional evaluation criteria are also proposed for applicants under Option B:

1. A business or investment plan for the next five years must be submitted, including a recruitment plan and an annual financial plan. .

2. The applicant must achieve the goals listed in the above-mentioned business or investment plan within five years after the investment.

3. The companies invested must belong to the 25 specified business fields.

The advantages of this plan are very obvious, and its biggest advantages are speed, directness and peace of mind. The applicant's spouse and unmarried children (under 21 years old) can immigrate at the same time as dependent applicants. Parents, married children and children over 21 years old can also apply for a five-year long-term visit pass. Moreover, the application cycle is short, and you can log in to Singapore in 6-8 months.

However, the disadvantages of GIP are also obvious. The large capital investment and strict personal resume keep most investors away. In addition, in recent years, the Singapore government’s review of GIP applications has been increasing year by year, mainly reflected in the comprehensive performance of the companies owned by the applicants and the applicants’ integration and contribution to Singaporean society. This has led to many independent applicants multiple times. Rejected.

In August 2017, the Singapore government revised the application conditions for the Entrepreneurship Pass.

Under the new policy, the company owned by the applicant no longer has to meet at least one of the following four conditions:

1. Obtain venture capital funds or angel investments led by the Singapore government Capital injection,

2. Hold patents, intellectual property rights or copyrights approved by the national patent and intellectual property department,

On this basis, conditions are relaxed for entrepreneurs, innovators, and investors, that is, applicants who meet the following standards are also within the scope of Entrepass application permission:

a. Have a business network and entrepreneurial record, and have high entrepreneurial performance, be able to create a highly scalable business, and wish to establish, develop and manage new or existing businesses in Singapore.

b. Achieve extraordinary achievements in key areas of expertise

c. Have a proven track record in investing in businesses and wish to develop new or existing businesses in Singapore.

Since this program is customized by Bohol Immigration for high-net-worth clients, although it is a channel for obtaining PR based on the Entrepreneur Pass (Entrepass), the applicant does not need to operate a company in Singapore and does not need to bear any responsibilities. The company has operational risks, a short cycle, fast visa approval, medium investment, and a high success rate. Bohol immigration has never been refused a visa so far. It is currently the most reliable immigration channel for investment immigration to Singapore.

Skilled Immigration

Skilled immigrants apply for Singapore PR after obtaining an employment pass (including EP and S pass) and working in Singapore for several years. This method is currently the main channel for highly educated people to settle in Singapore.

S Pass

S Pass is a work pass set by the Ministry of Manpower for foreign intermediate-level technical employees. SP has a quota requirement in each company. The SP pass holders that each service industry company can have can only account for 10%-15% of the company's total employees, while the SP quota in other industries can be up to the total number of employees. 20% of employees. In other words, the company must have at least 10 or more employees in order to apply for 1 to 2 SP quotas.

Employment Pass

The Employment Pass (EP) is issued by the Singapore Ministry of Manpower, and you can then further apply for Singapore’s Permanent Residency (PR).

Application requirements:

1. Bachelor degree or above, professional certificate or special skills

2. Salary usually requires more than S$3,600 per month (local University graduates have an advantage in applying, and they may apply if their monthly salary is slightly less than 3,600, while other university graduates will need a higher basic monthly salary)

3. The salary requirements for young people are lower, and the older they are, the more likely they are to apply. The more experience a person has, the higher the salary requirements for applying for a pass will be.

After January 1, 2018, only EPs with a monthly salary of more than 6,000 can apply for dependent passes for their spouses and children under 21 years old. EPs with a monthly salary of more than 12,000 can apply for long-term visit passes (LTVP) for their parents. You can apply for PR after working for 6 months.

The advantages of skilled immigrants include: 1. Low cost. Obtain a work visa as a worker and receive a monthly salary. 2. It is relatively easy for family members to immigrate to Singapore. As long as the monthly salary reaches S$5,000, Employment Pass holders can apply for dependent visas for their spouses and children, while those with a monthly salary of S$10,000 can apply for dependent visas for their parents. 3. Free entry and exit from Singapore. But the disadvantages that come with it are also inevitable: 1. The people you work and serve are limited to the employer company that provides the guarantee. 2. Compared with PR and Singapore citizens, you have to bear a higher tax burden when buying a house or property. 3. The requirements for income, education and personal background are relatively high. The income must be at least S$3,600 (for recent college graduates), and the academic qualifications must generally be at least a college diploma, supplemented by certain relevant work experience.

Study and Immigration

Since the end of last year, Singapore has finally opened students to apply for PR! As long as they are students studying in Singapore schools (including public and private), they must have lived in Singapore for at least two years. If you have passed the above and passed at least one Singapore national examination, such as PSLE, Singapore-Cambridge GCEN/O/A level, IP (Integrated Programme) course, you can apply for PR.

As long as you are a full-time student studying in a public school in Singapore or a private school approved by the government (with an eduTrust certificate), you can get a student pass.
