You need to register and hold relevant qualification certificates.

According to the People's Republic of China (PRC) Crew Regulations,

Article 5 To apply for crew registration, the following conditions shall be met:

(three) to accept the basic safety training for seafarers and pass the examination by the maritime administrative agency.

Article 9 The crew members who take part in navigation and engine duty shall obtain corresponding certificates of competency for crew members in accordance with the provisions of these Regulations.

To apply for a seaman's competency certificate, the following conditions shall be met:

(1) Obtaining a crew service book;

(2) meeting the health requirements of the crew position;

(3) Having received corresponding competency training and special training for seafarers;

(4) Having the corresponding crew qualification, and having a good performance and safety record.

Fifteenth China crew members who enter or leave the country as seafarers and work on ships of foreign nationality shall apply to the maritime administrative agency designated by the state maritime administrative agency for a seaman's certificate of the People's Republic of China.

To apply for a seaman's certificate of the People's Republic of China, the following conditions shall be met:

(a) is a citizen of People's Republic of China (PRC);

(2) Holding a certificate of competency as a crew member of an international sailing ship or having a clear task of leaving the country for the crew;

(3) There are no laws or administrative regulations prohibiting leaving the country.

Maritime qualification

1. After obtaining the training certificate, those who apply for the certificates of competency of Class B and Class C machinists need six months' offshore internship qualification (navigation area: infinite navigation area, near-ocean navigation area and coastal navigation area).

2. Those who apply for the certificate of competency of third mate and tube wheel should hold the certificate of competency of crew and mechanic on duty in the corresponding navigation area, and have actually worked for 12 months (new certificate: above the coastal navigation area).

3. Those who apply for the competency certificates of the first mate and the second engineer should hold the competency certificates of the first mate and the second engineer in the corresponding navigation area and class, and have actually worked for 12 months.

4. Applicants for the competency certificates of the captain and chief engineer shall hold the competency certificates of the chief mate and the second engineer of the corresponding navigation area and ship class, and have actually worked for 18 months.

5. To apply for the examination and evaluation of expanding navigation area, the applicant shall hold a certificate of competency of the same grade and position as the ship of the lower class in the application navigation area, and have actually held the position for 6 months.

6. To apply for the examination of increasing tonnage and power, the assessor should hold a certificate of competency for tonnage and power lower than the applied tonnage, but be in the same navigation area and position, and actually hold the post for 12 months.

7. Those who apply to expand the navigation area and provide tonnage and power at the same time shall hold a certificate of competency with the same position and lower tonnage and power as the application navigation area, and have actually worked for 18 months.
