The process of transferring the social security card from one place to another:

1. Before moving across the province, the insured person goes to the social security organization in the original place of participation to issue the "voucher for participation and payment of basic pension insurance". The voucher records three key pieces of information: the starting time of participation in the place of participation; the actual number of months of social security contributions; and the total amount of money stored in the personal account since participation in the local insurance.

2. The applicant or his/her employer should apply to the social security office in the new place of employment. If you are applying on your own, you will need to bring the proof of payment, hukou book, ID card and other supporting documents to the social security organization in your new place of employment to apply for the continuation of the relationship.

3. Generally, it takes a certain number of working days to complete the procedure of transferring the social security card from one place to another. The social security agency in the new place of employment will review whether the applicant meets the requirements within 15 working days. A Contact Letter will be sent to the social security agency in the original place of employment.

4. Within 15 working days after receiving the Contact Letter, the social security organization in the original place of employment will clear up whether the applicant's contributions are in arrears or not, and handle the transfer of the pension insurance fund, terminate the applicant's participation in the local insurance relationship, and send out the "Information Sheet for Transferring and Continuing the Basic Pension Insurance Relationship" to the new place of employment.

5. The social security organization of the new place of participation will complete the relevant procedures within 15 working days after receiving the Information Sheet and the transfer fund.

6. In addition to transferring the relationship, the social security card should also be used to transfer all the funds stored in the personal account of the social security card and the required proportion of the unit's contribution to the new place of employment.

In the prescribed time for the relevant procedures only need to be handed over to the relevant departments on the line, individuals only need to bring the relevant certificates to the social security agency to apply.

Individual industrial and commercial households without employees who voluntarily participate in social insurance, part-time employees who do not participate in social insurance with their employers, and other flexibly employed persons shall apply to the social insurance administrative organization for social insurance registration.

The State establishes a nationally unified individual social security number. The individual social security number is a citizen's identity number.
