What is social security?

Legal analysis: Social insurance refers to a social and economic system that provides income or compensation for people who have lost their ability to work, are temporarily unemployed or suffer losses due to health reasons. Main contents of social security: 1. Old-age insurance: Old-age insurance is a social insurance system that workers get certain economic compensation from the government and society after reaching the legal retirement age, such as material help and services; 2. Medical insurance: The basic medical insurance system for urban employees is a social insurance system established to ensure the basic medical needs of employees according to the affordability of finance, enterprises and individuals; 3. Work-related injury insurance: Work-related injury insurance is also called occupational injury insurance. After an employee suffers accidental injury due to work or occupational diseases caused by occupational hazards such as dust, radiation and toxic substances, the state and society shall provide necessary material assistance to the dependent relatives of the disabled or dead; 4. Unemployment insurance: unemployment insurance is a system enforced by the state through legislation and established by the society to provide material assistance to workers who have temporarily suspended their livelihood due to unemployment; 5. Maternity insurance: Maternity insurance is aimed at the physiological characteristics of reproductive behavior. According to the law, when working women temporarily stop working and lose their normal income due to childbirth, maternity insurance is provided by the state or society. Legal basis: Article 2 of the Social Insurance Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) The state establishes social insurance systems such as basic old-age insurance, basic medical insurance, industrial injury insurance, unemployment insurance, maternity insurance, etc., to protect citizens' right to get material help from the state and society according to law in case of old age, illness, industrial injury, unemployment and maternity.
