Individuals who have two pension insurance accounts in one city, the merger depends on the circumstances. In the case of inter-provincial transfer of social security accounts, it depends on whether a mechanism for cooperation and coordination between inter-provincial social security agencies has been established. Within the same city, at different times, if a participant has two pension accounts, it should be possible by law to combine the years of contributions, but the accounts will not necessarily be combined. If a participant has two pension accounts within the same city, during the same period of time, only one of the accounts can be used to calculate the number of years of contributions according to the law, and the other account should be canceled. After canceling one of the pension accounts, the participant can ask the social security institution to return the funds in the individual account.
