Is the social security card number an ID number?

The social security card number and ID number are the same.

Social Security Card, referred to as "Social Security Card of the People's Republic of China", refers to the integrated circuit (ic) card issued by commercial banks under the unified planning of Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and the cooperation of human resources and social security departments at the provincial, prefectural and municipal levels. It has social security application functions such as identification, information recording, self-service inquiry, medical settlement, payment and treatment collection, as well as financial application functions such as cash deposit and withdrawal, transfer and consumption. It is the human resources and social security rights enjoyed by cardholders.

Social security number is the only sign that we participate in social insurance, enjoy social insurance benefits, realize the convergence of social insurance rights and interests, and it is also an important sign that we have social security rights and interests. The social security number is required to be unique, lifelong and unified, and our ID number is the only national identity, so the ID number and social security card number are the same.

For China citizens who hold resident identity cards, the social security number adopts the citizenship number. The social security numbers of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan personnel, overseas Chinese and foreigners without resident identity cards shall be compiled in accordance with the unified provisions of the state.

Article 58 An employing unit shall, within 30 days from the date of employment, apply to the social insurance agency for social insurance registration for its employees. If the social insurance has not been registered, the social insurance agency shall verify the social insurance premium it should pay.

Employees-free individual industrial and commercial households who voluntarily participate in social insurance, part-time employees who do not participate in social insurance in the employing unit and other flexible employees shall apply to the social insurance agency for social insurance registration.

The state establishes a national unified personal social security number. Personal social security number is a citizen's identity number.
