What is the insured?

The insured refers to the person who has entered into an insurance contract with the insurer and has the obligation to pay the insurance premium according to the insurance contract. In the case of compulsory medical insurance, the insured is all or most residents of a place. In the medical insurance system, the insured person is in the main position.

According to the provisions of Article 29 of the Social Insurance Law of People's Republic of China (PRC), the part of the medical expenses of the insured that should be paid by the basic medical insurance fund shall be directly settled by social insurance agencies, medical institutions and pharmaceutical business units. The administrative department of social insurance and the administrative department of health shall establish a settlement system for medical expenses in different places to facilitate the insured to enjoy the basic medical insurance benefits.
