It usually takes about 3 months to apply for a social security card in a bank, and it only takes about 1 month if it is fast, as follows:

1. When new social insurance participants apply for social security cards, they or their agents can go through the application procedures in the comprehensive service window of social security cards or the social security card business processing window of social insurance agencies;

2. When applying for a social security card, it is necessary to provide the original valid ID card of the insured person, photos or photo electronic files that meet the photo standard of the second-generation ID card and relevant insurance certificates, and the processing time is 30 working days.

Legal basis: Article 58 of People's Republic of China (PRC) Social Insurance Law.

The employing unit shall, within 30 days from the date of employment, apply to the social insurance agency for social insurance registration for its employees. If the social insurance has not been registered, the social insurance agency shall verify the social insurance premium it should pay.

Employees-free individual industrial and commercial households who voluntarily participate in social insurance, part-time employees who do not participate in social insurance in the employing unit and other flexible employees shall apply to the social insurance agency for social insurance registration.

The state establishes a national unified personal social security number. Personal social security number is a citizen's identity number.

Article 59

The people's governments at or above the county level shall strengthen the collection of social insurance premiums.

Social insurance premiums shall be uniformly collected, and the implementation steps and specific measures shall be stipulated by the State Council.
