Can social medical insurance and commercial insurance be reimbursed at the same time?

Legal analysis: reimbursement can be made at the same time, but the principle of social security first and commercial insurance later should be followed. Commercial insurance is the part of social security reimbursement that has not been reimbursed, but the reimbursement items must be within the scope agreed in the insurance contract.

Legal basis: Article 29 of the Social Insurance Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) stipulates that the medical expenses incurred by the insured shall be paid by the basic medical insurance fund and directly settled by social insurance agencies, medical institutions and pharmaceutical trading units.

The administrative department of social insurance and the administrative department of health shall establish a settlement system for medical expenses in different places to facilitate the insured to enjoy the basic medical insurance benefits.
