The payment period of medical insurance in length of military service is five years. According to the law, the service life of active servicemen is regarded as the payment life of employees' basic medical insurance, which is combined with the payment life of employees' basic medical insurance before enlisting and after retiring from active service.

Article 23 of the Military Insurance Law

Soldiers who participate in the basic medical insurance for employees after retiring from active service shall be transferred to the local social insurance agency by the financial department of the military logistics (joint logistics) organ, and the local social insurance agency shall handle the corresponding transfer and connection procedures.

The service life of active servicemen is regarded as the payment life of basic medical insurance for employees, and it is combined with the payment life of participating in basic medical insurance for employees before enlisting and after retiring from active service.
