To apply for social security for newborns, parents and managers need to bring the first page of the household registration book, a copy of the child's household registration book page, the parents' ID card (double-sided copy) and a one-inch photo of the newborn with a blue background or a red background to the street or community labor security office where the household registration is located to apply for insurance.

Newborns can be handled at any time within one year of birth. It takes more than a month from going through the insurance formalities to getting the newborn medical insurance card.

If a newborn applies for a social security card within three months of birth, the expenses from birth to now can be reimbursed.
