What to do with the social security card and medical insurance card after the ID card name change

The social security card of the person concerned is still valid after the new ID card has been changed; after the change of identity information, the person concerned should also bring relevant materials to the department of human resources and social welfare to make changes in social security information. The Social Insurance Law stipulates that the State shall establish and improve the basic medical insurance system for urban residents. Matters related to social security in each region are managed by the local human resources and social security departments.

Objective of the law:

Article 15 of the Notice on the Issuance of Measures for the Administration of the Social Security Card of the People's Republic of China, the human resources and social security departments at all levels shall safeguard the right of the cardholder to inquire about, and handle, human resources and social security business, and shall adopt technical means and management measures to protect the cardholder's personal privacy, and use the information relating to the card in accordance with the law. The human resources and social security departments at all levels shall safeguard the rights of cardholders to inquire about and handle human resources and social security services, adopt technical means and management measures to protect the privacy of cardholders, use information related to social security cards in accordance with the law, and ensure the safe use of social security cards. Article 16 Provincial and prefectural and municipal human resources and social security departments approved to issue social security cards shall formulate clear application and management regulations for social security cards and release them to the public by means of expressly stating them in service places and publicizing them on government websites. Social security card application management regulations should include the following: (a) social security card function, purpose; (b) social security card issuance object, application conditions, application procedures; (d) social security card damage, loss of loss, reissuance procedures; (e) card issuers, cardholders and other relevant parties' rights and obligations.
