Rural medical insurance can be used across provinces. Rural medical insurance can be universal. The materials used in the reimbursement process should include: a copy of ID card, a copy of household registration book, discharge statement, expense list and other relevant documents.

To use the medical insurance card in different places, you must first apply for medical treatment in different places before you can use it in different places. In case of hospitalization caused by sudden illness in other places, patients usually need to contact the medical insurance service center of the insured place first, and then the medical expenses incurred in the designated medical institutions of basic medical insurance in other places can be reimbursed by using the medical insurance card. The insured person can directly use the medical insurance card in the medical institution for reimbursement and settlement, and can also prepare the hospitalization medical expenses list, hospitalization medical expenses invoice, hospitalization summary and other materials, and then go to the local medical insurance service center for reimbursement after returning to the insured place.

The medical expenses of the insured shall be paid by the basic medical insurance fund, and shall be directly settled by social insurance agencies, medical institutions and pharmaceutical business units.

The administrative department of social insurance and the administrative department of health shall establish a settlement system for medical expenses in different places to facilitate the insured to enjoy the basic medical insurance benefits.
