The rural social security card and the unit social security card are not the same.

In the same area, there is basically no difference, now because many accounts can be created on one social security card.

What the rural social security card includes is usually the new rural cooperative medical insurance and pension insurance;

while the social security card of the unit includes social security such as basic medical insurance for employees, basic pension insurance for employees, unemployment insurance, maternity insurance, and so on.

Article 28 of the Social Insurance Law of the People's Republic of China

Medical expenses in accordance with the basic medical insurance drug catalog, diagnostic and therapeutic items, standards of medical service facilities, as well as emergency and rescue, shall be paid from the basic medical insurance fund in accordance with state regulations.

Article 29

The part of the medical expenses of the insured that should be paid by the basic medical insurance fund shall be settled directly by the social insurance administration organization with the medical institutions and drug business units.

The social insurance administrative department and the health administrative department shall establish a settlement system for medical expenses for medical treatment in other places to facilitate the enjoyment of basic medical insurance by insured persons.
