Introduction to Weihai Lingang Economic and Technological Development Zone

Weihai Lingang Economic and Technological Development Zone (formerly known as Weihai New Industrial Zone), whose administrative scope belongs to Huancui District of Weihai City, is located in the middle of Weihai City and the center of the Weihai urban agglomeration. The total area under its jurisdiction is 297K㎡, and the planned construction land area is 78K㎡. Its predecessor, Weihai Industrial Park, was established in 2006 with the approval of the Shandong Provincial People's Government and reported to the State Council for filing. On April 29, 2008, Weihai New Industrial Zone was officially established. As a new industrial city planned and constructed by the Weihai Municipal Government, Weihai Industrial New District is a new urban district with the largest planned area, the highest planning and construction standards, and the greatest development potential in the Shandong Peninsula. The new district will be developed into a new industrial city with a population of 300,000 in 10 years. . In 2013, with the approval of the State Council, Weihai New Industrial Zone was upgraded to a national economic and technological development zone, named Weihai Lingang Economic and Technological Development Zone, or Lingang Zone for short. At present, Weihai has two national-level economic and technological development zones, the Economic and Technological Development Zone and the Lingang Economic and Technological Development Zone, and a national-level high-tech industrial development zone, the Torch High-tech Industrial Development Zone.
