How do students apply for a visa when they go to Australia to attend academic conferences?

You can apply for a visitor visa. A visitor visa allows applicants to travel to Australia for tourism or business activities. The duration of each stay is up to three months, six months or twelve months.

Australian visitor visa material list:

1. Passport
