Historical Evolution of Cangyuan Wa Autonomous County

Cangyuan was commonly known as Wa mountainous area or A Wa mountainous area in ancient times, and some areas were called "Hulu Wangdi".

Cangyuan Administration was established in 1937. Named after the source of the Lancang River tributary.

The Western Han Dynasty is an ancient place of mourning. The Eastern Han Dynasty belongs to Ailao County and Yongchang County.
