Now the local immigration bureau is under the management of the Ministry of Public Security.

The National Immigration Bureau bears the brand of People's Republic of China (PRC) Exit-Entry Administration and is managed by the Ministry of Public Security.

The main duties of the National Immigration Bureau are: to coordinate the formulation and implementation of immigration policies, to be responsible for entry and exit management, port document inspection and border people's exchanges management, to be responsible for foreigners' stay and permanent residence management, refugee management and nationality management, to take the lead in coordinating foreigners' illegal entry, illegal residence, illegal employment and illegal immigration repatriation, to be responsible for the service management of China citizens' entry and exit for personal reasons, and to undertake international cooperation in the field of immigration.

The Foreign Immigration Bureau is responsible for the entry and exit of foreigners, immigration, study abroad and visas. The full name of the institution with the same function in China is the National Immigration Bureau, which is not the same institution as the Immigration Bureau here.

Basic procedures for issuing entry and exit permits

(1) The applicant submits the application materials to the exit-entry administration of the public security organ at or above the county level entrusted by the State Administration of Immigration;

(2) If the accepting institution meets the application conditions, the application materials are complete and conform to the statutory form, it shall issue an application acceptance receipt to the applicant; If the application materials are incomplete or inconsistent with the statutory form, the applicant shall be informed of all the contents that need to be supplemented at one time; Do not belong to the scope of responsibilities of the department or do not meet the acceptance requirements, will not be accepted, and explain the reasons to the applicant.
