How many survivors are there in China after the Japanese defeat?

After Japan's defeat and surrender, many immigrants stayed in the northeast and other places. In the spirit of humanitarianism, the China government decided in principle to repatriate all Japanese overseas Chinese prisoners of war in China to Japan in an organized way. 1946 in mid-April, large-scale repatriation began, and Japanese overseas Chinese living in various parts of Northeast China concentrated in Huludao in stages. By the end of 1948, the repatriation operation was basically over, and1050,000 Japanese overseas Chinese returned to China. According to a special survey conducted by the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare 1958, 22 187 people in China have not been returned.
