China opens five cities to Filipino maids.

The five cities that open Filipino maids in China are Guangzhou, Jiangsu, Beijing, Shanghai and Xiamen.

Earlier, the Philippine Department of Labor and Employment announced that the China government would allow Filipino domestic helpers to legally enter the Chinese mainland market, which would greatly alleviate the employment problem of Filipino domestic helpers and provide a good source of foreign exchange for the Philippines. Moreover, the housing prices in several first-tier cities in China are very high, which is more than twice that in other regions, so Filipino maids are very happy.

Previously, Filipino domestic helpers were black families in Chinese mainland, and they were in danger of being repatriated at any time. Therefore, employers are worried that Filipino maids will be asked to return to China or suddenly leave their jobs.

The origin of Filipino maids

Twenty-eight years ago, due to the domestic economic downturn and the breeding of political opposition, Philippine strongman President Marcos opened the door to allow and encourage his people to work overseas, hoping to improve people's livelihood at home and ease political pressure.
