Ceheng County is located in the southwest of Guizhou Province, at the southeast end of Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in southwest Guizhou, at the intersection of the south and north Panjiang rivers, two major tributaries in the upper reaches of the Pearl River, between east longitude105 27 ′ ~10612 ′ and north latitude 24 38 ′~ 2519 ′.

It borders Wangmo County in the east, Tianlin County, leye county County and Longlin County of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region across Nanpanjiang River in the south, Anlong County in the west and Zhenfeng County in the north. The maximum distance between north and south is 73 kilometers, the maximum distance between east and west is 76 kilometers, and the total land area is 2598 square kilometers.

Ceheng was established in the Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasties, and still retains many historical and cultural heritages such as the site of the ancient Luodian Kingdom, the site of the ancient Tusi House, the ancient tombs, Mo Yan's reliefs and totem worship, Buddhism, Taoism and witchcraft, and sacrificial music and dance.
