What is the environment like in Jiuquan?

Jiuquan's unique natural environment and splendid history and culture have left rich resources for Jiuquan. Simple and hardworking people have also created a superior economic and cultural environment for Jiuquan and gathered a solid economic foundation. Formed three unique resource advantages:

First, water conservancy is rich in water and soil resources and convenient to develop. There are three major water systems and 16 rivers originating in the glacier snow area of Qilian Mountain. The annual runoff of surface water is 3.3 billion cubic meters, of which 2.7 billion cubic meters can be used for industrial and agricultural development. The total groundwater recharge is 2.97 billion cubic meters, and the exploitable hydropower reserve is 220,000 yuan. The total area of cultivated land is 2.26 million mu, forest is 8 1 10,000 mu, grassland is 66.89 million mu, and wasteland suitable for agriculture and forest is 4.78 million mu.

The second is the unique and rich mineral resources. There are many kinds of mineral deposits in the whole region, with large reserves and high quality. There are 572 ore occurrences in the five proven metallogenic belts, including 92 deposits recognized by the Ministry of Geology and Minerals and 48 kinds of minerals, all of which are distributed in the mountainous areas on the north and south sides of the corridor. Metal deposits mainly include gold, silver, copper, iron, lead, zinc, manganese, tungsten and chromium. Among them, the Ta 'ergou tungsten mine in Subei County ranks first in Asia, the Daji chromium mine ranks third in China, and the gold mining amount ranks first in Gansu Province. Non-metallic minerals mainly include petroleum, asbestos, magnesite, fluorite, mirabilite, coal, marble and granite. Among them, asbestos reserves rank third in China and magnesite reserves rank first in Gansu Province. Oil resources are also abundant, and it is the earliest petroleum industrial base developed in China.

Third, colorful and well-known tourism resources. There are a lot of unique historical and cultural attractions in the whole area. There are 53 cultural relics1/kloc-0, including 4 national cultural relics1. 208 at the provincial level. At present, 98 sites have been developed and utilized. The world-famous Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes and Anxi Yulin Grottoes, the Millennium Yangguan and Yumenguan, the magical Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Spring, and the unique folk-custom valley tours, temple fairs, hunting and other tourism projects attract tourists at home and abroad, which are the golden tourist attractions on the ancient Silk Road.

As the region is located in the inland areas of Asia and Europe, the unique natural ecology has formed four superior environments:

First, the agricultural development environment is superior. The altitude of the whole area is1100-1500m, the annual sunshine hours are 3033-33 16 hours, the annual average temperature is 3.9-9.3℃, and the temperature difference between day and night is13.9-1. Most of the cultivated land is irrigated by melting water from snow-capped mountains, with complete farmland water conservancy facilities, high crop yield and good quality. At present, 500 varieties of grain bureau, cotton and oilseeds have been planted, more than 300 varieties of forest fruits and vegetables, more than 20 kinds of farm animals and more than a dozen kinds of fish have been cultivated. Among them, golden pineapple, early crisp pear, famous jujube, Li Guangxing and other melon and fruit varieties were rated as excellent products. National and provincial commodity grain and cotton bases, fruit and vegetable bases and animal husbandry bases have been built in the whole region. It is also an important maize breeding base in China, and one of the most advantageous areas among the three foreign melon and vegetable seed production bases in China. With the United States, Japan, Germany, Hongkong, Taiwan Province Province and other countries and regions have seed production cooperation, and enjoy a good reputation in the world.

Second, the infrastructure conditions are superior. Infrastructure construction in the whole region is improving day by day. Lanzhou-Xinjiang Railway and National Highway 3 12 run through the east and west, and National Highway 2 15 runs through the north and south, which is the only passage for the new Eurasian Continental Bridge. The road network matching with trunk roads and county and township roads covers the whole territory. Dunhuang Airport, Jiayuguan Airport, Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center Airport and Jiuquan Xiaheqing Airport are open to major cities in China and provide charter flights for tourists. All long-distance and local telephones in the whole region are programmed, and rural telephones are basically automated, forming a fully functional, convenient, fast, flexible and efficient post and telecommunications network with program-controlled switches as the main body, optical cable, microwave digital transmission, mobile communication and data communication as one. There are 4 thermal power plants and 27 small hydropower stations in China, with a total installed capacity of 292,000 kilowatts and an annual power generation of 2 billion watts. The power grid in the area is connected with the northwest power grid through Yongjia 330 kV transmission system, and the power supply is sufficient. Jiuquan Wind Power Base under construction in Gansu Province is the first demonstration base of wind power of 10 million kilowatts planned and constructed in China. Since the first phase of the project started on August 8, 2009, the construction of wind power base has progressed smoothly, and it is estimated that the installed capacity of wind power will exceed 2 million kilowatts during the year.
