What is the significance of International Nurses' Day?

Florence nightingale, a British nurse, established the world's first formal nursing school in St. Thomas Hospital in 1860, and wrote many nursing monographs. She is regarded as the founder of modern nursing specialty. To commemorate florence nightingale's contribution to nursing, the International Council of Nurses designated her birthday 19 12 May as the International Nurses' Day to encourage nurses to inherit and carry forward the glorious tradition of nursing, treat every patient with "love, patience, care and responsibility" and do a good job in nursing. The basic purpose of setting up the International Nurses' Day is to advocate, inherit and carry forward Nightingale's humanitarian spirit of fearlessness, dedication and saving lives.
