Pursuit of Hometown History (1)
(1) hua county, Henan Province: The legend of "a horse does not bully its mother" on the White Horse Wall in a thousand-year-old village.
In the hinterland of the Central Plains, 20 kilometers east of Huaxian County in northern Henan Province, there is a village called Baimaqiang. Judging from the present village appearance, there is nothing special, just like the surrounding villages. People always work at sunrise and rest at sunset, leading a dull and ordinary life. However, the name of this village has a long-standing story, which casts a mysterious veil on it.
According to legend, during the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, the Yellow River made three turns here, flowing from south to north to Liyang (now Xun County), and then turned east and north along Jindi. This generation has mountains and water, dense vegetation, people rely on mountains and rivers, cultivate farmland, and stock mules, horses, cattle and sheep. What's more, the white horse here is tall and fat and famous. One day, a mare was in heat. In order to breed more and better white horses, the owner chose the best white horse in the herd to mate with this horse. Unexpectedly, this white horse is not close to the mare in heat anyway. The master suddenly realized that the white horse was born by this mare. Horses are very spiritual animals. One characteristic that distinguishes it from other animals is that horses don't bully their mothers.
In order to achieve the goal, the owner covered the eyes of the white horse with cloth and let it mate. As a result, the mating was successful, but when people took off the blindfold of the white horse, the white horse found that it was its mother who mated with it. I saw it roar like thunder, whine and scream, break free from the reins, and suddenly hit the wall, bleeding, and suddenly fell to the ground and died. The master regretted seeing this situation. The whole village was moved by this behavior of the white horse, so they buried the white horse by this wall just like burying their loved ones.
The story that a horse doesn't bully its mother, but a white horse hits a wall, spread widely, and soon spread all over Fiona Fang. From then on, this village has been called the White Horse Wall. The mountain to the east of the village is called Bai Mapo. Even the ferry on the Yellow River is called Baima Ferry, which faces Liyang Ferry on the north bank of the Yellow River.
Since then, this place has become more and more famous and the population has gathered more and more. After the Qin Dynasty unified the six countries, there were nearly 10,000 people here, and the government built Baima City and Baima County here. During the Three Kingdoms period, the White Horse Kingdom was also established, where the son of Cao Cao, the state of Wei, became king, and gradually developed into a political, economic and cultural center, which was very prosperous.
Great changes have taken place in this generation with the passage of time. The mountains were razed to the ground, and the Yellow River flooded many times, causing countless casualties. The bustling White Horse City is deeply buried under the yellow sand, and now the Yellow River has moved eastward 100 miles. The former Baima Ferry and Liyangdu no longer exist, and everything has become history and has been forgotten by people. Only this horse does not bully its mother, and the story of the white horse hitting the wall has been circulated among the people. To commemorate this white horse, people built a village on the site of Baima City, which is still called Baimaqiang Village, which is now Baimaqiang Village in Liugu Town, hua county.
(2) Baimaqiang Village
Origin of the name of Baimaqiang Village: Baimaqiang Village is located in the former site of Baimacheng. The famous Baima Wall Brigade, commonly known as Baima Township, was originally named "Baima City" with a long history. It is located at the northeast 1.5km of the government residence in Liugu Town, with an area of 2,387 mu of cultivated land and a total population of 2 1 15. The ethnic group is mainly Han. In Shang and Zhou dynasties, it was called a grass or a grass, and in Qin dynasty, Baima county was set up, belonging to the east county. From the Eastern Han Dynasty to the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, Baima County was under the jurisdiction of Yanzhou, Shandong Province. Jin and Yuan Dynasties belonged to Daming Mansion in Shandong Province. At the beginning of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty, the provincial white horse entered the slippery state, and the establishment of the white horse ended.
Geographical features: According to historical records, during the Huang You period in the Song Dynasty, Baima area suffered from floods year after year due to the flood of the Yellow River. The Millennium Tucheng was washed away by the flood because of disrepair, and the "White Horse Ancient City" was razed to the ground by the flood. The ruins were submerged under the loess and never disappeared again. In 2009, Anyang Cultural Relics and Archaeological Team came to the site of Baima Ancient City for exploration, and basically determined the orientation of its ancient city wall, which was listed as a key cultural relics protection unit by the county government. Due to historical reasons, the terrain of the village is high in the south, high in the middle and low in other areas. Villages and streets are winding, uneven and very old. About two-fifths of farmers' houses in this village are built on the ruins of the ancient city. For hundreds of years, villagers have unearthed many precious historical relics, including pottery, bronzes and porcelain. , in the farmland capital construction and digging soil. In ancient times, people had to leave many wells (called garden wells).
Natural characteristics and humanistic characteristics: Baimaqiang Village has four distinct seasons, rich products, outstanding people and heroes.
Economic, cultural and transportation conditions: Baimaqiang village mainly grows wheat and corn, and also grows some cash crops as appropriate. Such as green onions, vegetables and so on. Animal husbandry is also very active, such as raising pigs, cattle and sheep. There are also several farmers grinding flour and grinding bean curd. In the off-season, most young people go out to work to increase their income. Many farmers have built buildings and bought cars, and they are very rich.
Last name: Baimaqiang Village, last name 12. Except for Jing, Ban and Xing, whose surnames were originally outdoor, the others moved in from other places in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It is said that there were three villages in ancient times, namely Nanxing Village, Beili Village and Zhongbama Village. In the following years, due to the increase of foreign immigrants, the three natural villages gradually became an organic whole, and later they were collectively called "Baimaqiang" villages. In the Song Dynasty, due to natural and man-made disasters, the original Licun site and Baimacheng site in the north of the village were low-lying, most of the houses were washed away by floods, and most of the villagers fled everywhere, leaving only the south of the village with high terrain and not suffering too much flood, so there were several families named Xing and Jing, and one family named Gao did not flee. Ban, Fu, Wang, Mao, Jiao and Xu moved from Shanxi, Jiangsu and other places successively, which made the village grow and develop continuously.
Temples: There is a "Yuan Jun Temple" in the east of the village, and there are two "Guanyin Bodhisattva Temples" in the village. According to legend, Yuan Jun Temple was built in the Tang Dynasty. Originally known as "White Horse Temple", it was named after Li Shimin, king of the Tang Dynasty who was good at riding white horses. At that time, the temple had a building area of more than 6,000 square meters, including three upper rooms, three east and west rooms, a gatehouse and a courtyard wall. This is a magnificent courtyard, with more than 65,438+00 Taoist priests and pilgrims all year round. In the Song Dynasty, due to the flood of the Yellow River, temples were swallowed up by floods together with the ancient city of Baima. After the flood, the temple disappeared, leaving only ruins of less than 600 square meters. 1999, when the village was repairing Weicun Road, bulldozers pushed out a stone tablet of "13th year of Guangxu" from the construction site, with the inscription "Wanli" on it to rebuild the temple, and the year number of "Wanli" was unearthed.
