Tourism resources in Wanyao Township
Entering Wanyao Township, the "back garden" of Jiangshan City, the scenery along the way reveals that this place has joined the carnival of our city's tourism development. The director of the Mountain Field Office of Wanyao Reservoir Management Bureau in Jiangshan City said that at the end of last month, the Zuimei Wanyao Scenic Area was successfully established as a national 3A-level scenic spot, and the newly built 8-kilometer cycling greenway leads directly to the destination of this trip - Wanyao Reservoir.
Wetlands in Jiangshan City are mainly concentrated in the two major reservoir areas: Xiakou Reservoir (including Baishikeng Reservoir) and Wanyao Reservoir. The drinking water source protection zone of Wanyao Reservoir covers an area of ??216,069 acres, including 178,445 acres of forestland, accounting for Reaching 82.6%, there are 118,838 acres of provincial-level key public welfare forests, accounting for 55%. It is expected that more than 3 million yuan in ecological benefit compensation funds will be issued to forest farmers in the reservoir area next year. In April 1993, Wanyao Reservoir, the second largest national reservoir, officially started construction. In July 1996, the hole was sealed to store water. The rainwater collection area is 212.5 square kilometers and the total storage capacity is 200 million cubic meters. It is now the main water source for drinking and production in Jiangcheng. Because there is a "Sun Mountain" next to it, some people call it "Moon Lake".
As its name suggests, Moon Lake is clear and tranquil. Looking around, it is as level as a mirror, the mountains are covered with green curtains, far away from the hustle and bustle of the town, you can occasionally hear one or two cock crows, and almost no other sounds. "More than 20 years ago, 5,559 villagers from five towns and villages left their hometowns to build the reservoir." Jiang Ziguang said that the people in the reservoir area made great sacrifices in exchange for the clear water of the lake today. Most of the 30,000 acres of mountain farmland in the reservoir area were left behind by immigrants who migrated away from their hometowns. When they left their homeland, many of them cut down their own mature trees to raise funds for settling in other places, resulting in a reduction in forest land area. For this reason, the forestry department has designated the area within the first ridgeline around the reservoir area as a logging restriction area, and has included it as a provincial key ecological public welfare forest for mountain closure and afforestation protection. Now, after a long period of restoration, it has been restored to its original appearance. Next, the forestry department will carry out the Wanyao Reservoir wetland ecological restoration and management project to give full play to its important ecological functions such as water purification, flood storage and drought prevention, climate regulation and biodiversity maintenance. Follow the trail down to the reservoir pier, where two small boats and a cruise ship are docked quietly. Moon Lake was once developed as a tourist attraction. Osmanthus Island, with more than 200 osmanthus trees planted in the lake, is also a tourist attraction. The office building next to the reservoir was the former tourist reception center until 2006 when the reservoir began to open to the river. Drinking water is provided in the urban area.
The boat sailed towards Osmanthus Island, with lush trees on both sides of the lake, and several fishing boats on the lake pulling nets to catch fish. Proper fish farming can purify water quality. The fish here do not eat feed and are real ecological fish. On the shore, some mountain reclamation fields are retained and economic trees such as yew are planted. These are sources of income for the villagers in the reservoir area.
Because they live in the reservoir area, most of the villagers here can only eat "ecological rice." The economic structure of the reservoir area is dominated by agricultural economy. Except for a few wood processing enterprises, there are basically no processing industrial enterprises.
When you get to Osmanthus Island, you will see bluestone paths covered with dead branches and leaves, wooden trash cans with moss growing on them, and street lamps covered with dirt, giving you the feeling that time has suddenly stopped. Among the green leaves, a two-story building stands quietly. The outside still looks intact. This was once a teahouse for tourists to watch. Jiang Ziguang said that after the ban on the development of tourism, the area has been abandoned and vegetation has been allowed to grow to restore the ecology.
