What if I miss the green card interview?
You should take the initiative to contact the consulate two working days before the interview, either by phone or by email. You also need to tell the consulate why you can't attend this interview and the time range of the follow-up interview. When you receive a reply from the consulate (usually an email reply), you should reschedule the interview according to the guidelines given by the consulate.
After the interview is postponed, it starts from the first interview. After that, you must take the initiative to contact the consulate to tell you about yourself and whether to arrange an interview.
If you don't have this plan within this year, you must also tell the consulate to keep the immigration application for you within the specified time. In this way, your immigration case will be effective and your previous efforts will not be in vain.
Interview guide for immigrants applying for green card:
1. All green card applications require an interview. In the past, the immigration bureau only interviewed the adjustment of the marriage green card, and other types of green card applications depended on the specific circumstances. For example, people with a record of arrest or violation of immigration laws are interviewed separately, and green card applications for professional immigrants are usually not interviewed.
1. The Immigration Bureau stipulates that applicants for professional immigration green cards must be interviewed after submitting the I-485 form, and can only be adjusted to permanent resident status and obtain a green card after passing it. The Immigration Bureau said that the interview was led by the regional office of the Immigration Bureau. If the applicant's I-485 is found to be unqualified or fraudulent during the interview, the case will be returned to the visa service center.
2. Unless the Immigration Bureau judges at its own discretion that some applicants can be exempted from the interview, such as those who obviously do not meet the application conditions, minors who apply for green cards alone, citizens' parents, military service applicants (beneficiaries still need to attend the interview), and those who are sick or incapacitated.
3. These green card applicants need to be interviewed, including all kinds of professional immigration status adjustment (I-485) applicants (for example, L, H, O and other work visa holders who apply for immigration first through professional immigration categories I, II and III) and relatives of refugees and asylum applicants (I-730).
4. The interview requirements are only applicable to applicants who are in the United States when submitting their applications, and they are required to adjust their status in the United States to obtain a green card. Family members of the applicant should also be interviewed. According to the requirements, every applicant has to be interviewed, including the applicant's family members (unless they are eligible to be exempted from the interview). Immigration usually tries to arrange family members to interview together.
