1. Tuberculosis testing objects

2. Tuberculosis Testing for Children

All children over 11 years old who apply for a British settlement visa must undergo a tuberculosis test.

For children under 11 years old, parents or guardians must take them to a designated testing agency to complete a health questionnaire. The doctor will use the answers to the questionnaire to decide whether your child needs testing.

If the doctor thinks your child does not need testing, you will get a certificate from the doctor. This proof must be submitted with your child's application for a settlement visa.

All children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by their parents or guardians when visiting designated testing institutions, and must bring the materials listed under "Testing Procedures".

3. Tuberculosis testing process

Students need to contact any designated testing agency to make an appointment and explain to the doctor that the test is used to apply for a British settlement visa. It will take a few days for your appointment request to be approved and we cannot prioritize your appointment.

5. Tuberculosis testing items

6. Tuberculosis testing time

The testing time depends on the specific testing institution and its work intensity. You need to contact the relevant testing agency for confirmation. For X-ray testing, you will need a sputum sample. Sputum specimen testing takes two months to obtain results.

7. Tuberculosis testing cost

The cost of chest X-ray is RMB 550. This fee does not include tuberculosis treatment costs.

8. Tuberculosis test results

If you have a standard test and your chest X-ray is normal, there is no need for further tuberculosis testing. You will get the test results and certificate soon.

If the test results are inconclusive, you will need to undergo further sputum specimen testing. The test takes two months to get results.

If the test results show that you are not infected with tuberculosis, you will receive a relevant certificate, which needs to be submitted when applying for a visa. This certificate is valid for 6 months.

If the test results show that you have tuberculosis, you cannot get a certificate.

The doctor will provide you with relevant treatment suggestions and treatment plans. Treatment takes approximately 6 months, during which time you will not be able to apply for a UK visa unless you can prove that you have completed treatment and are cured.

Due to UK visa application requirements, doctors will pay special attention to whether you are infected with tuberculosis.

However, if the X-ray test shows that you have other diseases, the doctor will also provide you with relevant medical advice.

9. Tuberculosis test refund matters

The test fee will not be refunded in the following situations:

You are not infected with tuberculosis;
