South Korea and north Korea

2. Language

There is only one nation on the Korean peninsula-Korean, and the language is Korean.

The formation of Korean characters is complicated. In short, a large number of Chinese characters were included in the peninsula before it split. After the split of the peninsula, the two countries have different attitudes towards writing. In the 1950s, North Korea carried out writing reform and eliminated Chinese characters. In recent decades, North Korea has been locked in China, and there are few fresh loanwords, while South Korea has been writing in Chinese characters, and because of its opening to the outside world, loanwords are abundant. So there is no problem for Koreans to go to North Korea. When Koreans go to Korea, they will have difficulty in reading and can't understand foreign scientific and technological neologisms. As for communication, there is no problem in communication between the two sides. But there will be accents and dialects in different regions, just as there are accents and dialects all over China.

3. Korean people in China

During the Japanese occupation of Northeast China and the Korean Peninsula, people could enter and leave the Korean Peninsula in the northeast of China relatively freely. Due to the small population and fertile land in the northeast, some peninsula residents moved north to the northeast. These people are the ancestors of the vast majority of Korean people in China. A few immigrants can be traced back to earlier times. )

After the founding of New China, all Koreans who settled in China were accepted by the China government. They are not classified as overseas Chinese by China like China people who emigrated to the Korean peninsula, but have become a minority in China.

Korean people in China live in compact communities, and some live in scattered communities. Koreans living in compact communities have kept their original customs, language and culture intact, so there is basically no problem in communicating with North Korea and South Korea. The only difference lies in the use of Chinese characters in Korean, the vocabulary of foreign words, accents and dialects. The Korean diaspora has basically been assimilated by the Han people, especially the second and third generations born after the founding of New China. But most of them can understand Korean because their parents speak Korean at home, but they can't speak it and can't recognize words. Others can't understand it, let alone read it. "Korean" is just a national symbol for them.
