There are many branches of Yao nationality, with great differences in languages, such as Burmese, Bunu and Raja. 1982, experts from Minzu University of China created Yao language in the form of 26 Latin letters, and spelled Mian language with Latin letters. Chinese is widely used now. Many people can speak Zhuang and Miao at the same time. Historically, Yao and Miao have a close blood relationship, which originated from the "Wuling Man" tribe in the Qin and Han Dynasties. Yao people have high attainments in longevity, beauty and medical skills. Yao medicine has been well received by the majority of patients in the treatment of cancer, gynecological diseases, rheumatism, lupus erythematosus, traumatic fracture and snake bite. Most Yao people believe in Taoism and witchcraft, and a few Yao people in mountainous areas are also good at Maoshan witchcraft. Yao nationality in a broad sense: both Yao nationality and She nationality have totems and four surnames: Pan, Lan, Lei and Zhong. These four surnames are the same, and some words are the same. In addition, she people have also called themselves Shan Yao, Yao Jia and Ren Yao since ancient times.
