First, the place to apply for a passport

American citizens born overseas apply to the local American embassy/consulate. If it is in the United States, some universities can handle it, but the most convenient thing for most people is to go to the post office; Some USPS offices do not need to make an appointment, and most of them need to make an appointment first. Second, apply for a new passport.

The DS- 1 1 form can be picked up in USPS store, or printed online, or filled in manually by printing a blank form. Some inapplicable items can be left blank or written as N/A. It is strongly recommended to fill in online, because all required items must be filled out before the next step can be carried out, so as not to miss them.

Page 1: Fill in the parts 1-9. The white box in the upper right corner does not need to be filled in. Part9 uses a name. If you don't have a name, you can leave it blank. Page 2: Fill in the part 10-2 1. Remember to write the applicant's name and date of birth on the first line. Part 18TravelPlans is not very important, just fill in a date, and it's okay if you don't fill it in.

Three. Documents submitted with the form

Citizenship certificate: children born in the United States provide birth certificates, babies born overseas by American parents provide citizenship certificates, and naturalized people provide naturalization certificates (commonly known as citizenship papers). This certificate is submitted with the form and will be sent back when the passport is ready.

Photo: driver's license, military officer's card and other documents with photos and names, and copies of the front and back. Copies are submitted with the form and will not be returned. The original needs to be shown to the office staff for inspection and returned after reading.
