Dian State (278 BC-65438 BC+009 BC) is an ancient minority tribe in the southwest frontier of China. Its territory is mainly in the central and eastern Yunnan with Dianchi Lake as the center, and it is often called the Dian nationality by historians.

In 278 BC, the State of Chu sent a team of Chu generals to the Dianchi Lake area. After conquering the local people, they were separated by the Qin State because of their return, so they stayed in Dianchi Lake area and established the Dian State, with the capital in Jincheng Town, Jinning District, Kunming City. According to documents and archaeological findings, Yunnan has existed in Yunnan history for about 500 years, which appeared in the early Warring States period and disappeared in the early Eastern Han Dynasty. The discovery of Yunnan culture began with the excavation of Shizhai Mountain in Jinning in 1955. Yunnan Museum found a batch of bronzes with strange shapes from an antique dealer, which were quite different from those in the Shang and Zhou Dynasties in the Central Plains, and attracted the attention of professionals. After understanding, it was confirmed that bronzes were unearthed, so from 1955 to 1996, five excavations were carried out in Shizhaishan cemetery in Jinning, which unveiled the mysterious veil of Yunnan culture.
