A brief introduction to the pension policy and welfare of Canadian immigrants
I. Canada's pension policy The pension fund is the most generous personal benefit provided by the Canadian government, and it can be collected without paying any fees. Canada's pension funds are divided into four categories: pension allowance, living allowance, spouse allowance and orphan allowance.
1. Pension
Old age allowance is the most important and widely used category in the pension fund project, which is applicable to almost all people over 65 years old and can be collected after application. This allowance should be taxed as income.
The application conditions can be divided into two situations:
A. Residence in Canada at the time of application:
People aged 65 and above;
Hold a Canadian maple leaf card when applying for a pension;
At least 18 years old and have lived in Canada for 10 years.
B. Living outside Canada at the time of application:
People aged 65 and above;
Holding a Canadian maple leaf card before leaving the country for residence;
At least 18 years old and have lived in Canada for 10 years.
Even if the above two points are not fully met, there is still a chance to receive a pension. Canada has signed social security agreements with some countries (such as the United States), and according to different agreements, it can still receive a certain amount of pension.
2. Time to apply for Old Age Allowance
After reaching the age of 64, if you receive a letter from Service Canada, it will say that the applicant meets the conditions for receiving the old-age allowance, and the system will automatically register the old-age allowance for the applicant.
However, if there is no automatic registration, you need to apply for it yourself. Applicants need to apply 1 1 month in advance (the application cycle is 1 1 month).
Even if you don't meet the requirements of the full pension allowance, you can get the full pension allowance by delaying the time of receiving the pension allowance. After the age of 65, if Canadian residents do not receive the old-age allowance, the monthly amount will be increased by 6% on the basis of the full amount, which can be postponed to 70 years old, that is, by 36%.
Two. Canadian immigrant welfare
1. Minimum living allowance
Living allowance is an additional pension benefit for low-income families in Canada, which is paid by the government on a monthly basis and is tax-free. Applicants need to hold a Canadian maple leaf card and receive an old-age allowance. The minimum living allowance will recalculate the annual income in June every year to determine whether it is eligible for the allowance.
2. Spouse allowance
Spouse allowance is a re-welfare for some families who have already met the minimum living allowance. Requirements for applying for spouse allowance:
The applicant is between 60 and 64 years old;
The spouse of the applicant can receive old-age allowance and living allowance;
The applicant is a legal resident of Canada;
At least 18 years old and have lived in Canada for 10 years;
Below income.
3. Orphan allowance
Orphan allowance is an additional benefit for low-income widowed families. The application conditions are as follows:
The applicant is between 60 and 64 years old;
The spouse dies and has not remarried;
The applicant holds a Canadian maple leaf card;
At least 18 years old and have lived in Canada for 10 years;
Below income.
Further reading: the three major cities of Canadian immigrants
1, Toronto Toronto is a well-deserved carrier of Canadian cities. The population accounts for nearly 1/6 of the total population of Canada.
One of the most diversified cities in the world, with colorful national characteristics, makes this city colorful and charming.
Pleasant environment, beautiful educational resources and high-quality life are considered as one of the most livable cities in the world, and of course the consumption level is relatively high.
2. Montreal
Montreal is the second largest city in Canada. Montreal does not lack modern colors because it is ancient. Due to the foundation laid for many years, its industrial output value still ranks second in the country. The position of industry can not be ignored, and finance and industry and commerce are also very developed.
Montreal has a majority of French-speaking residents, which reflects the unique French cultural heritage and is considered as a romantic city in North America. Looking at the panoramic view of the city, churches of all sizes and styles constitute a striking cultural spectacle, and their number (about 450) even exceeds that of the ancient city of Rome.
3. Vancouver
Although Vancouver ranks third, many waters, mountains and parks are mistakenly thought to be larger than the actual area. A complete transportation network allows Vancouver people to ski in the morning, sail in the afternoon and enjoy the opera at night.
Vancouver has a developed film production industry, which is the third largest production center in North America after Los Angeles and new york, and is known as Hollywood in the North. In recent years, it often ranks among the best in the survey of the world's living cities.
