A textual research on the origin of Xu's historical celebrities
The distant ancestors can be traced back to the Five Emperors, Jin people (won surname).
Shao Hao's great-grandson was Boyi, who helped Dayu to control water. Wang Xia named Ruomu, the son of Boyi, as Seo Woo, whose hometown is in the northern part of Sixian County, Anhui Province.
Guo Xu lived in Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasties, and was always active between Jianghuai. He was called Xu Rong in history, also known as Xu Yi or Xu Fang.
During the Spring and Autumn Period, Xu Yanwang rose up against the Zhou Dynasty and was destroyed by Zhou Muwang and Chu. Later, Xu Yanwang's son was renamed Xu Zi.
During the Warring States Period, the State of Wu destroyed Xu, and then the State of Yue destroyed Wu. Until the State of Chu destroyed the State of Yue, Xu's territory belonged to the State of Chu.
The descendants of the Xu family took the country as their surname and scattered between Jianghuai.
In ancient times, there was Xu Ruomu (now northern Anhui), and Xu Guocheng was the earliest birthplace of Xu.
After Xu's death, many people living here moved northward one after another.
Roughly from the Han Dynasty to the Sui and Tang Dynasties, many counties and counties were formed in Shandong and Henan in the north of China.
During the pre-Qin period, the Xu family mainly distributed in Anhui, Jiangsu, Shandong and other places.
During the Qin and Han Dynasties, the Xu family spread in most parts of northern China, and began to move south to Nanchang, Jiangxi, Longyou, Zhejiang and other places, but the gathering area was still dominated by the lower reaches of the Yellow River.
During the Wei and Jin Dynasties, Xu's surname began to move southward on a large scale, but its main breeding place was in the Huaihe River and most of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River.
In Song Dynasty, Xu moved from Shicheng, Jiangxi to Shanghang and Liancheng, Fujian.
In the Yuan Dynasty, Xu was born in Fengshun County, Meixian District, Meizhou City and Haifeng County, Guangdong Province.
Xu's fame mainly includes: in the Western Han Dynasty, Pi was a satrap and a philosopher Xu Wo; Xu Shu, a celebrity of the Three Kingdoms; Xu Ling, a writer in the Southern Dynasties: Xu Zunming, a scholar in the Northern Wei Dynasty; Xu Shang and Xu Yanruo, famous ministers in the Tang Dynasty; Five pronouns Xu Xuan; Famous Xu Da, geographer Xu Xiake, scientist Xu Guangqi, writer and painter Xu Wei in Ming Dynasty;

Another story about the origin of Xu's surname comes from the genealogy of surnames in various countries: Boyi assisted Dayu in water control, and Dayu was old. He wanted to give up the throne to Boyi, who refused to accept it (note: being a leader at that time was to serve everyone), so he fled to the east of Xuzhou and made a living by fishing in the East China Sea.
Eight years later, Dayu passed the throne to his son (married from then on), and Boyi did not show up. Yu told his son to read Boyi, help him control water, and give him the gift. Boyi took the fief as his surname and called Xu Boyi, so the first person surnamed Xu was Xu Boyi.
