Is Chongming Dialect a kind of Wu dialect? Why?

Chongming dialect belongs to Wu dialect. Chongming dialect is a relatively stable, ancient and distinctive dialect in the northern border area of Wu dialect because it is surrounded by water and has inconvenient transportation and is not easily influenced by foreign dialects. It is quite different from Shanghai and other suburban dialects, but it is basically the same as Qidong and Haimen dialects. Compared with Shanghai dialect, Chongming dialect mainly retains more ancient voiced fricatives. For example: Chen ≠ God, in addition to ≠ time, alive ≠ and so on; Shanghai dialect is Chen = God, except = time, life = self. Also, Chongming dialect retains some differences between two ancient metaphors, such as: river ≠ lake, and Shanghai dialect is river = lake. In terms of tones, Chongming dialect retains eight tones of ancient tones, while Shanghai dialect has only five tones. There is little difference in Chongming dialect. The pronunciations of chengqiao town and Baozhen can represent the dialects of Chongming from the west to the northeast. But there are some subtle differences in pronunciation. Mainly in the southeast coastal areas south of Chenjia Town, there is a phenomenon that the ancient rhyme "Dongdong Tangjiang" is mixed, such as "Longbow = Yangtze River, Tangshan = Tongshan"; Some rhyming words are often pronounced as H and F, such as "young man = young master, dizzy = confused". Accordingly, in Wudong area, personal pronouns such as I, you and him include "Shang [za ~] (I), (we) and [z? ? N] (you), even (the chorus of "The Real You"). This homonym is similar to Chuansha, Pudong, Baoshan and Songjiang dialects. Chongming dialect is similar to Shanghai dialect, Jiaxing dialect, Suzhou dialect and Taicang dialect. The number of users is huge. Covering a wide area of more than 4,500 square kilometers, it would be enough to build a prefecture-level city if it were not across the river and the sea.
