Siming dialect is the representative of Xiamen dialect and one of the representative points of Minnan dialect. Its formation and development can be traced back to the large-scale entry of three groups of Han Chinese into Fujian in the Central Plains.

In the fifth year of Yongjia (365,438+065,438+0), the Xiongnu captured Luoyang, Jindun and Wuluanhua. , and the central plains south crossing. One of them settled in Minjiang River Basin and Mulan River Basin with Fuzhou as the center. They brought ancient China people (such as Ding, Miao, faux pas, etc.) here, but this time the number was very small, and most of the immigrants stayed in the Minjiang River Basin and Mulan River Basin. During the Southern Liang Dynasty (502-5 19), Liang 'an County was established to the south of Jin 'an County (governing Fuzhou) to maintain the stability of southern Fujian. It was located in Fengzhou Town, Nan 'an, and led to Jin 'an and other three counties, but it was quickly revoked until the middle of the Tang Dynasty more than 200 years later. This is the embryonic form of Minnan dialect, belonging to the fifteen-tone system.

In the second year of General Chapter Tang Gaozong (669), Zheng Chen and Chen Yuanguang (from Gushi County, Gwangju, Henan Province in the early Tang Dynasty) led the troops into Fujian, and fifty-eight military schools were reinforced by the Central Plains. Most soldiers settled in today's Jiulong River valley, bringing the Central Plains language of Sui and Tang Dynasties and developing Minnan language.

During the Five Dynasties, Wang Chao and Wang, from Gushi, Gwangju, Henan Province, led tens of thousands of troops to fight in Fujian for eight years and finally occupied the whole territory of Fujian. This trip to Fujian brought the Central Plains language of the 10th century and developed Minnan language again.

Siming dialect has experienced a long-term evolution. After Zheng Chenggong took Xiamen as a stronghold to crusade against the Qing court and recover Taiwan Province Province, he started maritime trade, and Xiamen became the center of foreign trade in southeast China.

From May of 1938 to September of 1945,

Siming dialect has some important features different from Putonghua and other dialects in pronunciation and vocabulary, and retains many important features of ancient Chinese. It directly inherited the ancient Chinese system, especially its initial consonant system, and did not participate in the phonetic evolution of northern dialects after Sui and Tang Dynasties.

Since 1949, Putonghua has been vigorously promoted in Siming. The pronunciation of voiced initials and Rusheng words in Siming dialect and many important features of most spoken words are disappearing day by day.

Siming is the intersection of Xiamen, Quanzhou, Zhangzhou, Taiwan Province Province and Southeast Asia, and it has become the center connecting the traditional folk customs of southern Fujian with those of Taiwan Province Province and the folk customs of overseas Chinese in southern Fujian in Southeast Asia. After long-term exchanges, integration and tolerance, it has formed a unique folk custom of Siming.

Siming locals are hospitable, tie the knot, pay attention to etiquette, pay attention to civilization, have many righteous people and do business easily.

Among Siming folk customs, Tomb-Sweeping Day eats pancakes, begging for longevity turtles in Shangyuan, flying dragon boats in Dragon Boat Festival and making cakes in Mid-Autumn Festival are all distinctive. There are both inheritance and originality. Siming people have both positive traditional beliefs and negative superstitious habits. With the passage of time, most of the dross in folk customs have been abandoned by the times.
