Where is the power of the Three Gorges mainly delivered?

The electricity generated by the Three Gorges Project will be mainly sold to Hubei, Henan, Hunan, Jiangxi and Chongqing in Central China Power Grid, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui in East China Power Grid and Guangdong in South China Power Grid.

The Three Gorges Hydropower Station is the largest hydropower station in the world and the largest construction project in China. However, many problems caused by it, such as immigration, environment and so on, have been accompanied by great controversy since the moment it started construction. The Three Gorges Hydropower Station has more than ten functions such as shipping, power generation and planting. The Three Gorges Hydropower Station was approved by the National People's Congress of China in 1992 and officially started construction in 1994. On the afternoon of June 1 2003, water storage and power generation began, and it was fully completed in 2009.

The Three Gorges Hydropower Station is equipped with 32 700,000 kW hydro-generator sets and 2 50,000 kW hydro-generator sets, with a total installed capacity of 22.5 million kW and an annual power generation of over 654.38 billion kWh, making it the largest hydropower station in the world.
