The historical evolution of Gansu Province;
Gansu is a province with a long history. During the Shang and Zhou Dynasties, the Zhou and Qin tribes rose in Longdong and developed eastward, which had a great influence on the political life of the country. Wuwei, Zhangye, Dunhuang, Tianshui, Anding, Wudu and Jincheng were successively established between Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty and Zhao. The Yuan Dynasty established a provincial system in China, and Gansu officially established a province.
Fuxi, Nu Wa and Huangdi, the ancestors of the Chinese nation, are said to have been born in Gansu, so they are called "Sang Zi in the West". Zhou people rose in Qingyang, and Qin people were born in Tianshui. The opening-up policy of the Han Dynasty and the communication between Zhang Qian and the western regions successfully opened up the Silk Road.
During the Sui and Tang Dynasties, Gansu became an important channel for China to connect with western countries and Europe, and Wuwei, Zhangye and Dunhuang became international trade cities with prosperous economy and culture. After the opening of the sea route, with the national political, economic and cultural center of gravity moving eastward and southward, especially due to the changes of climate and ecological conditions, Gansu has gradually become a lonely place.
During the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, Gansu governed Xining Prefecture, Ningxia Prefecture and eastern Xinjiang, except today's province. In the 10th year of Guangxu (AD 1884), Xinjiang was established as a province. In the 18th year of the Republic of China (1929), Ningxia and Qinghai provinces were separated, and the administrative areas were basically the same as today. Gansu is one of the important birthplaces of Chinese nation and Chinese culture.
