Six major wine producing areas

1. From about BC 1 100, wines from the Caucasus mountains in Central Asia began to spread to Italy, France and Spain, and eventually became the real origin. We call these traditional wine-producing countries with a long history of brewing "old world countries", that is, wine-producing areas in Europe.

2. Old world countries mainly include traditional wine producing countries located in Europe, such as France, Italy, Germany, Spain and Portugal, and eastern European countries, such as Hungary and Czechoslovakia. Most of them are located between 20 degrees and 52 degrees north latitude, and they have natural conditions that are very suitable for wine grape cultivation. The natural conditions of warm winter and cool summer, concentrated rainy season in winter and spring, drought in summer and autumn, and high-quality soil give these countries inherent advantages in wine cultivation and brewing. This can be seen from the fact that the annual wine production of France, Italy and Spain accounts for nearly 60% of the world's total wine production.

After the industrial revolution, the accelerated development of the world economy forced people to explore the vast land outside Europe. The exploration of the world not only promotes the communication and integration of the whole world, but also opens up another new world for the development of wine. After Columbus discovered the New World, European powers began to colonize and expand. With the expansion of colonization, new European immigrants brought the local European grape varieties to South America, and then to the United States, New Zealand and other places today. Wine producing areas have spread to what we call "new world countries".

4. The new world countries are represented by the United States and Australia, as well as emerging wine countries outside Europe such as South Africa, Chile, Argentina and New Zealand. The famous producing area is California, and its essence area is Napa Valley. The top cabernet sauvignon red wine produced in this region has defeated the top French wine in two top wine blind tasting competitions in the United States and France, making American wine famous. There are also Canada, which is famous for its ice wine made from frozen grapes, and Australian wine made from Xiha grapes, which originated in the Rhone Valley of France and flourished in Australia.

Compared with the old world producing areas, the producing countries in the new world producing areas are more innovative and adventurous, and shoulder the goal of marketization. New World Winery is a consumerist culture, most of which are relaxed and straightforward. When the bottle is opened, it is full of fruity fragrance and surging. In fact, you can feel the novelty of New World wine in many details, and you can even see cartoons and three-dimensional labels on the bottles of New World wine. For another example, the international market not only has the traditional glass bottle packaging, but also has the phenomenon of New World wine canned packaging and Tetra Pak packaging. For fine wines, the difference in packaging has also begun to have a new trend. In the past, traditional corks were generally used, but more and more wine merchants, especially those in the new world, began to use spiral plugs. In addition, organic cultivation is a trend of new world wineries.

6. Of course, this does not mean that there are no rules to follow in the new world wine-producing countries. Although European countries, such as France, do not classify wine grades in law, new world countries also have their own grading systems. For example, based on the concept of origin and the actual situation of its own wine development, the United States has formulated the American wine producing area (AVA) system that meets its own needs. AVA country of origin system has successfully protected and standardized wine production. It should be noted that although industrialization may be a common phenomenon in the new world, it does not represent the whole story. In some famous high-quality producing areas, the requirements of wineries for brewing technology and technology are even stricter than in the old world. For example, in Napa Valley, many wineries are picking grapes by hand, filtering out bad grapes at the first time to ensure the quality of brewing. At the same time, Napa Valley became the first agricultural protected area in the United States on 1986, so it has the most comprehensive and stringent land use and environmental protection rules in the world's wine producing areas.
