Why does Chenjiagou not recognize Zhang Zhijun as the successor of Chen Style Tai Chi?

1. It is related to the surname. Most people in Chenjiagou are surnamed Chen, Zhang Zhijun is an outsider, and traditional martial arts are all orthodox.

2. Maybe Zhang Zhijun had some trouble with the people in Chenjiagou, or violated some martial arts rules in Chenjiagou.

①Chenjiagou is the birthplace of Chen-style Tai Chi, one of the six folk forms of Tai Chi[1]. Located in the middle section of Qingfengling, 5 kilometers east of Wen County, Jiaozuo City, Henan Province, it was originally named Changyang Village. During the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty, Chen Bu, a native of Zezhou, Shanxi, moved to the village. Because there was a deep ditch running from north to south in the village, the village was renamed Chenjiagou as the Chen family multiplied.

② Zhang Zhijun started practicing boxing in 1970. In 1974, he became a disciple of Chen Zhaokui, a great master of Chen style Tai Chi. After seven years of training and more than 30 years of careful study and practice, he has comprehensively and systematically mastered the principles, techniques and teaching methods of traditional Chen-style Tai Chi. He is proficient in practical moves such as pushing hands, Sanshou, and grabbing, and has formed his own set of new concepts on the interpretation, teaching and training of Tai Chi. In 1983, Zhang Zhijun competed face-to-face with a visiting Japanese karate delegation in Zhengzhou, Henan, and defeated his opponents, which became a martial arts legend.
