China Immigration Report of University of Toronto: Employment is the biggest challenge for immigrants.

According to the Sing Tao Daily of Canada, the object of this study is the mainland skilled immigrants who came to Canada for four to 10 years. This study aims to explore the obstacles and discrimination faced by skilled immigrants from the "old" mainland by tracing their life experiences and cultural adaptation process in Toronto, so as to provide reference for social service agencies and policy makers, and at the same time, let new immigrants learn from the experience of "old" immigrants. Refer to Global official website.

It is found that the employment problem is still the main challenge faced by "old" immigrants. Facing the challenge, the "old" immigrants are also actively looking for countermeasures, such as insisting on finding a job, changing their understanding of professional work and physical work, redistributing their roles in the family, finding their own jobs, returning to China for development, being content with the status quo, and seeking spiritual support through friends, religion and mental health services. Closely related to employment difficulties is the language barrier. Language barrier is also the main factor leading to frustration. Language barriers prevent immigrants from truly integrating into the local society, and at the same time force them to relocate.

In the suggestions to social service agencies and policy makers, the study also tries to fully express the demands of skilled immigrants from the "old" mainland, including: providing social services for "old" immigrants; Provide effective mental health education and consulting services; Integrate existing service organizations to avoid duplication of services and improve efficiency; Providing more child care services is the most concerned issue for women.

It is understood that the research report will be formally submitted to social service agencies at the end of this year as a reference for formulating policies.
