Studying in Germany: What is the EU Blue Card?

On February 20 12, the German Federal Cabinet officially issued the "EU Blue Card" to professionals from non-EU countries through the authorization scheme. The EU Blue Card is a system introduced by the EU to attract technical talents to work in the EU. This is both a residence permit and a work permit.

Article 19 A of the New Aliens Law-Basic Requirements for the Issuance of EU Blue Cards

Basic conditions for application:

1. University diploma (German university diploma, or equivalent)

2. Minimum wage requirement, with an annual income of 46,400 euros. For industries that are short of talents (natural scientists, mathematicians, engineers, pharmacists, information engineering and technical professionals), the minimum annual income requirement is 36 192 euros.

Xiamen Licheng reminds: those who hold an indefinite work contract or a work contract of more than four years can get a blue card residence time of up to four years for the first time.

The spouse of the blue card holder can apply for a family reunion visa. There is no requirement for the spouse's German ability when applying.

Children of blue card holders can apply for family reunion. At the time of application, relevant certificates are required to prove that both husband and wife can live in Germany for a long time and at least one parent has a blue card, or the holder of the blue card has custody of the children.
