Re-migration of Fujian Chinese in Southeast Asia since 1950s.

Since 1950s, the total scale of Chinese emigrants from Fujian in Southeast Asia has exceeded120,000. The uncertainty of the number of overseas Chinese has always been a difficult problem in academic research, especially in Southeast Asia because of the complex situation in various countries. Many factors make it difficult to estimate the scale of overseas Chinese in Fujian in Southeast Asia. On the basis of referring to domestic statistical data, this paper summarizes the first-hand data such as census data, yearbooks, statistical bulletins and Chinese social periodicals in Southeast Asian countries, and on this basis, refers to the second-hand data studied by relevant institutions and scholars, sorts out and analyzes the historical changes and regional distribution of the number of Chinese in Fujian in Southeast Asia, and makes a survey of Fujian in Southeast Asian countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Myanmar, Laos, Brunei and East Timor. According to conservative estimates, the total size of Fujian Chinese in Southeast Asia exceeds120,000.
