What is the setup process of Netware wireless router?

Netgear***, also known as American Netgear Company * * * is the world's leading provider of enterprise network solutions and telecom IP access equipment, and also an advocate of digital home network applications. NETGEAR Inc was founded in June 1996 65438+ 10, and has been committed to network technology innovation, focusing on improving the reliability and usability of products and providing easy-to-use high-quality networks for corporate users and home users around the world. Netware wireless routers also have a certain market in China, and the utilization rate is also very good. Many users don't know how to set up a netgear wireless router. This paper takes wgr6 14 series under netgear as an example to illustrate its setting process:

Step 1 Connect WGR6 14v9 to the network.

At present, ADSL access is most commonly used in general family or small office networks, and computers directly use dial-up internet access.

Now you need to share the Internet through WGR6 14v9. If the computer and WGR6 14v9 are still wired, the correct connection method should be as follows:

A. The computer must first connect to one of the four LAN ports of WGR6 14v9.

B connect the WAN port of WGR6 14v9 and the yellow port next to the antenna with the ADSL MODEM with another network cable.

Note: If a modem is not required for broadband, and the operator provides a network interface to directly connect the computer, then after the computer is connected to the LAN port of the router, please connect the network cable originally connected to the computer to the WAN port of the router.

Step 2 Computer network attribute configuration

WGR6 14v9 is a device based on browser management. The computer can enter the management interface of the router through the browser for configuration and management, but the relevant settings of the computer must be correct first.

Let's take Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 as an example to illustrate the computer configuration process:

1. Start the computer, right-click Neighbors on the Network, select Properties * * * to find the neighbors on the network on the desktop or in the start menu, right-click Local Area Connection, select Properties, select Internet Protocol ***TCP/IP***, and click Properties:

2. Set the computer to "Automatically obtain IP address" and click OK for "Automatically obtain DNS server address":

Step 3 Log in to the router

1. Make sure that the computer is connected to one of the four LAN ports of the router as described in step 1, and start the router.

2. Start a browser, such as Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator, and open a webpage.

Type: in the address bar of the web page, and then enter:

* * *1* * Under normal circumstances, the browser will pop up the following login box, enter the user name and password and successfully log in to the management interface of WGR6 14v9. Default user name: admin, password: password, all letters are lowercase:

Tip If you enter: in IE browser, IE browser doesn't respond or can't open the webpage after entering, then:

Check the connection properties in IE browser, and close the proxy service: select Tools' →' Internet Options * * * Options * → Connection → LAN Settings * * * *-> uncheck all options, then select OK → OK, close the IE window, reopen a page, enter the above address in the address bar, and press enter.

* * * 2 * * Some users may see the prompt, please click Close, then reopen the browser and enter:

Explain that the default IP address of WGR6 14v9 is 192. 168. 1. The reason why a prompt will appear shows that in your local area network, if the address of another network device such as ADSL modem or another router is also 192. 168. 1, WGR6 14v9 will automatically change its address to/kloc.

***3*** When entering the management interface for the first time, the first thing I saw was the NETGEAR Wireless Router Intelligent Configuration Wizard, which can guide users to complete the configuration; You can also chooseNo. I want to configure the router myself. Click Next and follow the instructions.

Step 4: Guide the basic Internet setup.

* * * 4 * * If you need to log in to the settings interface again in the future, enter the correct user name and password in the login box, then log in, and first enter the firmware upgrade assistant.

Firmware refers to the software solidified in the router hardware. With the maturity of technology, NETGEAR will continue to develop new firmware for each product to further optimize product performance. Users can complete the upgrade operation through this upgrade assistant.

Tick √ in the check box, which means that every time you log in to the WGR6 14v9 management interface, you will automatically search the NETGEAR server to see if there is any new firmware released. If you want to cancel this function, please uncheck the √ in the check box before "Check firmware upgrade at login".

Note: Because the server is not in China, it takes a long time for domestic users to use the assistant to upgrade. We suggest that domestic users cancel this function, and please log on to the Chinese website of Netware when you need to upgrade.

Note that firmware upgrade has certain risks. Failure to upgrade may lead to hardware damage of WGR6 14v9. Please read the firmware upgrade guide of reading chinese Network carefully before upgrading, or do it under the guidance of professionals.

Basic internet settings

Your network access mode may be PPPoE dial-up, fixed IP or dynamic IP. Please refer to the corresponding settings to complete the basic Internet access settings.

1, configuration method of PPPoE dial-up Internet access

Every time you connect to the Internet, you need a user name and password to log in, or your ISP provides you with a PPPoE account. For example, ADSL broadband services of China Telecom and China Netcom usually adopt this connection mode, and broadband services of individual communities will also adopt this mode.

Taking ADSL broadband users of China Telecom as an example, the relevant information provided by telecom operators is as follows:

ADSL broadband user name: [email? Protected]

Password: ×× year × month × day × month × day × month × day × month × day × month × day × month × day × month × day × month × day × month × month × day × day × month × day × month × day × month × day × month × day × day × month × day × day × month × day × day × month × day × month × day × month × day × month ×

* * *1* * The first question is "Do you need to log in for your Internet connection?" Select "Yes" and "Internet Service Provider", select "Other" and enter the broadband account number and password in the blank fields after "Login" and "Password" respectively.

***2*** Internet IP address, select "dynamically obtain from ISP". If you know the local DNS server * * *, you can call the local ISP to inquire about it * * *, you can choose "Use the following DNS server" and fill it in, or choose "Get it dynamically from ISP" directly.

According to WGR6 14v9, you can adjust the connection mode on the basic settings page:

A. If your broadband is wireless, please select "Always On" and the router will always be on.

B. If your broadband belongs to the limited access type, please select "Dial on Demand" and set the preset time * * * 5 minutes in the idle timeout. Then, the router will dial after detecting the user's online request in the local area network; If the traffic from the LAN to the Internet continues to be zero for more than 5 minutes, the router will automatically disconnect from the Internet and wait for the next connection request before redialing;

C. If you want to control the connection or disconnection of the router to the Internet, please select "Manual Connection"; When you need to surf the Internet, first enter the router management interface, and click Connect under the router status → Connect status. It should be noted that the router will remain online after manual connection, and you must click Disconnect in the connected state to disconnect from the Internet.

After the settings of this page are updated, open a new webpage and try to access the Internet. Under normal circumstances, you can already surf the Internet! If you can't access the Internet, click the router status in the list on the left to view the IP address of the Internet port on this page. If the connection between the router and the Internet fails, the IP address will be 0.0.0. Please check the connection between devices first, return to the basic settings page, and check whether the ADSL account number and password are correct. Better fill in the password again. If the connection to the Internet is successful, the IP address and DNS are both non-zero numbers:

***3*** Finally, click "Logout" at the bottom left to exit the management interface:

2. Configuration method of accessing the Internet with fixed IP address.

This type of connection is usually used for private line access, such as commercial optical fiber. Broadband service providers will provide users with detailed parameters, such as IP address, subnet mask, gateway and DNS.

Taking a fixed IP address user of an operator as an example, the relevant information provided by the operator is as follows:

IP address:192.168.0.211.

Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

Gateway address:192.168.0.1.

Main domain name server: 211.136.20.203.

From the domain name server: 6 1. 177.95+025.

* * *1* * Select No for the first question. Use static IP address for Internet IP address and domain name server for DNS * * * * address. Enter information such as IP address and subnet, and then click Apply.

* * * 2 * * Click Logout to exit and close the administration page.

3. Configuration method of accessing the Internet with dynamic IP address.

If you use a computer to surf the Internet directly, and the TCP/IP of the computer is set to automatically obtain IP and DNS, you don't need to make any dialing or connection procedures, then you belong to this access mode. Cable TV * * * Cable * * and some residential broadband adopt this connection mode, such as Shanghai Cable, Guangzhou Pearl River Broadband and Shenzhen Tianwei Video.

Note: Some ISPs use WEB authentication to provide access-you need to fill in authentication information on a web page before surfing the Internet, and the computer will get the IP address before accessing the authentication page. This authentication method also belongs to "using dynamic IP address to surf the Internet" for routers. When surfing the Internet through a router, one computer in the local area network first carries out WEB authentication, and other computers can share the Internet without authentication. However, due to the differences in the implementation details of WEB authentication provided by different ISPs, it is impossible to support the access mode WGR6 14v9 of WEB authentication provided by individual ISPs.

The basic online setting is very simple, and the steps are as follows:

* * * 1 * * After successfully logging into the "Basic Settings" page of the WGR6 14v9 management interface, you don't need to make any changes, keep the default settings and click "Apply" directly.

* * * 2 * * If DNS information can be obtained from the local ISP*** service provider * *, select "Use the following domain name server" in "Domain name server ***DNS*** address", and then fill in two DNS server IP addresses, such as: 6 1. 144.

* * * 3 * * Click Logout to exit and close the administration page.

Step 5: The notebook comes with wireless network card connection settings.

5. After completing the basic configuration, if you want to surf the Internet wirelessly, you must set up the "wireless network connection" of the computer according to the "local connection" set at the beginning of this article. Then right-click the wireless network connection and select View available wireless connections:

* * *1* * Important note

If your computer has an 802. 1 1b/g wireless network adapter, right-click My Network Places and select Properties. There are only "local connection" or other connections in the network connection type, and there is no "wireless network connection". Please contact the after-sales service department of your computer supplier.

* * * 2 * * Click "Refresh Network List" on the top left, and the searched wireless networks will be listed on the right. Select the wireless network you want to access, and then click Connect in the lower right corner.

Phenomenon:

When you visit the or page, the browser will prompt

The page cannot be displayed.

This problem is usually caused by the following reasons:

The TCP/IP properties of the computer used to configure the router are set incorrectly;

The TCP/IP settings of the computer configured with the router are correct, and the router is connected to the ADSL modem. Unable to enter the router settings page because the modem settings conflict with the router default settings.

The router uses the existing network with the segment of 192.5438+068.438+0.0, which is the same as the router's LAN.

Setting a proxy server in a browser;

The computer configured with the router uses multiple network cards, and the TCP/IP settings of the network cards are wrong;

Exclusion reason 1:

Before configuring the router, you should first configure the network properties of the computer used to manage the router. Here, taking Windows XP Home Service Pack 2 as an example, explain the TCP/IP configuration process of the computer:

1. Start the computer, right-click "My Network Places" on the desktop or at the beginning, and select "Properties".

Note: Ignore other connections such as "1394 connection" and "wireless network connection", and only do this for "local connection".

2. Right-click the Local Area Connection and select Properties, select Internet Protocol ***TCP/IP***, and then click Properties:

3. Set the computer to "Automatically obtain IP address" and click OK for "Automatically obtain DNS server address":

4. Then right-click Local Area Connection and select Status to view support:

Note: If the settings are correct, the address type, subnet mask and default gateway should be the same as before, while the IP address is not necessarily 192. 168. 1 .3, but192.168./kloc-0. * * *.

5. Then ping in the DOS command line to detect the connection between the computer and the router.

A * * * found "start"->; "Execute", enter cmd, and click "OK" to open the DOS command line:

B***。 Enter "ping192.168.1"at the command line, and then press enter. If "reply from 192. 168. 1 ...

C***。 If other information is displayed, such as "Request Timeout", it means that there are other problems in the connection between the computer and the router. Please continue to refer to the following.

Exclude reasons 2 and 3:

If you are an ADSL dial-up user or a dynamic IP access user, and the reason 1 has been ruled out, please read the following carefully. At present, many ADSL modems also support WEB management, and the default IP address is often 192. 168. 1. If the modem is also enabled for routing mode, once connected with WGR6 14v5, the computer will not be able to enter the router setup page. Because the router's LAN is already192.168.1.0, it is impossible to access another network of192.168.1.0.

First of all, you must disconnect the router's WAN port, that is, unplug the router's WAN port network cable. Then restart the router. After the router starts, use ping to check the connection between the computer and the router. For the method, please refer to the 4*** steps of "Troubleshooting 1".

If the inspection results show that the computer and the router are still unable to connect, please reset the router. The correct reset operation is to hold down the reset button when the power is turned on. * * * There is a small round hole next to the antenna, which contains the reset button *** 15 seconds or more, and then the equipment is powered off and restarted.

Then use ping to check the connection between the computer and the router. Usually, if the reset operation is correct, the computer and router should be able to connect normally.

Then start a browser such as Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator of the computer, enter:192.168.1.1/basic settings in the address bar of the browser, and then press enter:

Note: When setting up the router for the first time, you must follow the above steps. After logging in, you only need to enter 192. 168. 1, and the router will ask for the user name and password. Please note that the user name and password entered here are not ADSL account number and password, but the user name and password used by the router authentication administrator. User name: admin/ password: password is lowercase, and this information can be found on the back of the device.

The default entry page is the basic settings page.

"Note" No matter what access method is used, you must connect the router by wire for the first time, because the wireless function of the router is not turned on by default. Make corresponding settings on the basic settings page. After the completion, the wireless transceiver function will be turned on, and then you can use the wireless connection. For the settings of this page, please refer to the router quick installation documentation.

6*** Then change the LAN IP address of WGR6 14v5, and find the IP settings of this LAN in the function list on the left side of the router. After entering this page, modify the IP address of the local area network, the starting IP address and the ending IP address of the DHCP server, as shown below:

7***. After the setting takes effect, the local area network IP address of WGR6 14v5 will be changed to192.168.2.1,and the IP address of the computer must be rearranged before it can be used normally, as follows:

A * * *. Click "start"->; "Execute", enter cmd, and click "OK" to open the DOS command line:

B***。 Enter the command ipconfig/release to clear the IP address and wait a moment before releasing the IP address, as shown below:

C***。 Enter the command ipconfig/renew to get the IP address, and the new IP address will be displayed immediately:

8***. After the above operations are completed, reconnect the WAN port of the router to the originally connected device, then start the browser, directly type192.168.2.1,and press enter. At this point, you should be able to open the router settings page.

Exclusion reason 4:

When the above possibilities are ruled out, and the connection is displayed when the computer ping the router, please check whether your IE has set up a proxy server.

1* *. Start a browser to open a webpage, and select Internet Options in the Tools menu-> > In LAN Settings in the lower right corner of the Connections tab, uncheck Use proxy server for LAN to disable the proxy:

Exclusion reason 5:

If the router is managed by a computer with multiple network cards installed, it is best to enable only the wired network card connected to the router and temporarily disable the connection of other network cards to avoid the problem that the router management page cannot be accessed due to improper network card settings.
