What was the place name of Liaocheng in ancient Shandong Province?
The name Liaocheng first appeared in Zuo Zhuan, but the site of Liaocheng at that time was not the present address at all. According to historical records, the current site of Liaocheng was located after four migrations.
The earliest site of Liaocheng ancient city is located about one mile east of Shenlizhuang, Jiaming Economic Development Zone, Dongchangfu District, on the west bank of Xixinhe River, and is now called Liaogu Temple Site.
During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, Liaocheng was the territory of Qi. After the reunification of the Qin Dynasty, Liaocheng County was set up, and the seat of the government was located here, which remained unchanged until the Jin Dynasty. In 499 AD, Liaocheng County moved to Wangcheng. The ruins of Liaocheng ancient city have existed in the ancient temple for more than 1000 years.
Although the time is more than 2500 years apart, the urban construction pattern of Liaocheng in the Spring and Autumn Period is very similar to that of the ancient city now. The story of Lu Zhong and continuous shooting saving Liaocheng happened here. In 249 BC, Liaocheng was occupied by Jiang Yan, and Qijiang Tiandan was besieged for a year, but he could not attack.
The King of Qi read Lu Zhonglian's Book of Overcoming the Enemy and wanted to improve his rank and rank, but Lu Zhonglian and politely refused to take the title of King of Qi and fled to the sea. Lu Zhonglian's feat of shooting books to save Liaocheng was admired by later generations, and Li Bai, Zhao Mengfu and Tan Qian all admired his poems.
In order to commemorate this talented and independent Gao Shi, Lu Zhonglian Terrace was built outside Dongcheng Gate in Wanli period of Ming Dynasty, and it was rebuilt many times later.
However, according to old books, Luzhongliantai refers to ancient temples, so it can be inferred that Zhu's "East Gate with Taiwan" refers to Luzhongliantai. The "Luliantai" built in the Ming Dynasty is not the same as the original "Luliantai".
Speaking of the name of the ancient temple, it is said that there is Zhuan Xu's tomb here. In memory of him, the local people built him a cenotaph and a temple beside it. The temple is in front of the tomb, with towering mountain gates and dense cypress trees.
During the reign of Emperor Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty, Deng Zhongyue, the champion of Liaocheng, came here to write the plaque of "Talking about Ancient Temple" and hung it at the temple gate. Since then, the name of "Chatting Ancient Temple" has been passed down to the present.
In the past, ancient temples were famous for their large scale. In the main hall, there is a statue of Zhuan Xu Emperor Gui Zhi, about 7 feet high, with civil and military officials standing on both sides. At the back of the temple, there are three two-story attics with statues of the emperor Zhuan Xu and his queen.
There are pavilions, cloisters, bamboo and Tsinghua in the courtyard, and the abbot is named "Monk". Temple grain nest more than 80 acres. There is a well named Shengquan beside Zhuan Xu's tomb, and there is a monument beside it. According to Zhicheng's records, this well is quite miraculous. It often rains when the weather is dry. Known as one of the eight scenic spots in Liaocheng in ancient times, it is known as "the holy spring carries rain".
Later, the well disappeared, and the Liaogu Temple was also destroyed by 1945. 1978, the government carved "Liaogu Temple Site" on the monument beside the well to preserve this historical site.
On may 30th, 20 10, Wu, the owner of private enterprise in yansi office, rebuilt the holy well and held a ceremony to flush it.
He visited Liaocheng cultural celebrities, explored the historical origin of ancient wells and inspected the ancient wells left by various places. Based on the principle of "repairing the old as the old", the ancient well integrates antique color, fragrance, rhyme and taste, and Shengjing has become another major attraction in Liaocheng.
Today, when we talk about the ruins of ancient temples, we can also see pottery pieces scattered on the surface. Experts say that from the recognizable shapes of these pottery fragments, there are cans, cups, southern tiles, beans and pots in Longshan culture period, enamel in Yin Dynasty, rope-patterned pipe tiles in Zhou Dynasty and so on.
A newly-built stone pavilion is next to a poplar tree that is still green in the middle of winter. Under the pavilion is a sacred well, and behind it is Zhuan Xu's tomb.
