Zhejiang TV University Deqing College was founded in 1979 as a TV University workstation. In June 1994, it was moved from Qianyuan Town to Wukang Town, the seat of the county government of Deqing County. The campus covers an area of ??40 acres, with a construction area of ??10,460 square meters. In 1997, it merged with the County Teachers' Training School. The two schools complemented each other's advantages and shared educational resources. This provided a rare opportunity for a new round of development of Deqing TV University, becoming the leading base for adult education in Deqing County, and in 1999, it became Zhejiang University. One of the first batch of colleges directly affiliated to TVU.

The college has a satellite receiving ground station and is equipped with digital satellite receivers, satellite IP data receiving equipment, and remote education IP data receiving systems. It can receive the "Live Classroom" broadcast by Central Radio and Television University and the third broadcast of China Education Television. Since the pilot of "China Central Radio and Television University University Talent Training Model Reform and Open Education Pilot", the college has invested more than 4 million yuan in building a campus network. Through the resource publishing, browsing, interaction, recording statistics and other functions of TVU’s online distance education platform, it provides students with services such as online resource browsing, learning process recording statistics, and interaction between students and teachers. Currently, the school has 592 undergraduate students and 1,112 junior college students in open education.
