Overview of Nanchang Library

The new Nanchang Library was decided by the municipal government in 1992 and completed and opened in 2002. It is a turnkey project of the Nanchang Municipal Government and a landmark building for the spiritual construction of Nanchang City. The new museum is located on Xinzhou Road, Nanchang City. It is magnificent, simple and bright, covering an area of ??22.5 acres, with a total construction area of ??18,900 square meters and a total investment of 71 million yuan. It is adjacent to Tengwang Pavilion, a famous tower in the south of the Yangtze River. Together with the Provincial Museum and the Provincial Science and Technology Museum, it forms a beautiful cultural landscape in Nanchang's creation of a garden city. It will become a document and information center, a cultural, leisure and entertainment center in Nanchang, and a cultural palace loved by the people.

Nanchang Library was established in 1958. It now has offices, editing, tutoring, reference consultation, loan, journals, children, computer materials, cultural industry, logistics engineering and other departments. There are 67 current employees, including 80.6 with a college degree or above; 6 associate research librarians; 9 librarians. Since its establishment 44 years ago, as a comprehensive public library, it has focused on comprehensiveness, publicity and locality in the characteristics of its collection. It currently has a collection of 720,000 books, 673 kinds of current periodicals, 60 kinds of newspapers, and children's books. There are 50,000 volumes of books and more than 3,000 volumes of "Sikuquanshu" and thread-bound books. It has established book and information exchange relationships with 159 units across the country; it has friendly exchanges and collaborations with dozens of libraries in large and medium-sized cities. It has also established a friendship library with the Takamatsu City Library in Japan. The two parties exchange visits, exchanges, and donate books and periodicals to each other.

With the purpose of meeting the needs of readers to the greatest extent, Nanchang Library provides readers with a variety of comprehensive services such as card application, reference consultation, book loan, newspaper loan, etc., and is open "all day and night". We will welcome readers as usual during holidays. Openness is the characteristic of Nanchang Library. It implements all-round openness, gives full play to the role of the collection of literature resources, and provides readers with more convenient and faster services.
